Advantages: excellent resistance to compression and bending – reduces the risk of cracking of the filling; adhesion to enamel and dentin – ideal for use in minimally invasive techniques and the ART method; long-term release of fluoride; maintaining perfect marginal tightness of fillings; visibility on x-rays.
Indications: filling small class I cavities; temporary, long-term fillings of cavities in posterior teeth; filling cavities of all classes in deciduous teeth (as an amalgam replacement); teeth reconstruction for prosthetic restorations; base for fillings made of composite materials and amalgam.
Additionally, the powder in granules facilitates and speeds up measuring, mixing and application: lower cohesiveness – more accurate powder dosing affects the certainty and repeatability of the treatment results; increased hydrophilicity – the liquid is absorbed faster, making it faster and easier to mix; ease of handling – granules reduce stickiness and dusting compared to other glass ionomers.
