- OBF Oral Bio Filter is a lip and cheek locking system that connects to the dental chair’s suction system, safeguarding the working environment, safety and hygiene of everyone in the dental office.
- During standard dental procedures, pathogen contaminated residues are released into the air in the dental office with the help of turbine spray, contra-angles and ultrasonic scalers
- These pathogens remain in the air in the dentist’s office for a maximum of two hours.
- Pathogens are not filtered out by conventional masks and eventually land, contaminating everything within 10 meters of the patient.
- This is especially important in the era of the prevailing coronavirus, which can be active on various surfaces for up to several days.
- The tip fits over the wide suction sleeve of the dental unit
- The retractor fits approximately 90% of adult mouths
- The retractor can be adjusted to the patient’s mouth by changing its curvature by squeezing its sides, top and bottom together.
- In the case of long-term surgery, it is recommended to remove OBF from the patient’s mouth every 20-30 minutes for about 2 minutes so that the patient can rest
- Ergonomic shape
- Increases the hygiene of the doctor and assistant and all people in the office
- Sasako – Retractor minimizes the possibility of cross-contamination in dental clinics by absorbing droplets and water spray before it leaves the patient’s mouth.
- Cross-contamination is the greatest risk in the dentist’s office, and studies show it is the leading cause of infections in dentistry among patients and dental office workers.
- OBF allows free access to the oral cavity.
- It has the basic functionality of a lip retractor which, once it is placed on the lips, prevents the patient from closing the mouth reflexively
- The OBF was developed to eliminate the possibility of contamination of the entire space of the spacecraft by aerosol of the patient-cosmonaut under weightless conditions. The works were supported by the European Space Agency. Collaborated with the CSIC Institute of Space Sciences and the European Institute of Health Protection.
- Developed by Astradentium Health Technologies SL, it was patented, approved and recognized by the Aviation Agency and won the international Salud Award 2018 for technological innovation in dentistry. The creators of OBF immediately realized that a similar problem also occurs on Earth.
- With the advent of COVID-19, interest in the use of OBF in dental offices has increased significantly. Descending from space to Earth, we see that OBF is simply a patient’s mouth retractor, easy to use, which, in the opinion of Polish dentists, REMOVES AEROSOL from the patient’s mouth, e.g. when grinding teeth.
- However, it is less effective in sandblasting (this procedure is not recommended during the COVID 19 pandemic)
- OBF connected to the suction system of the dental unit reduces contamination in dental offices by absorbing micro-drops before leaving the patient’s mouth. Research shows that cross-contamination is the highest risk in the dental office and is the leading cause of infections in dentistry among patients and dentists. The frame, in turn, facilitates the doctor’s access to the oral cavity and prevents the patient from spontaneously closing the mouth.
- NOTE: OBF is a class I single-use or single-use medical device. It can be disinfected with peracetic acid. Not autoclavable. Peracetic acid is a strong oxidant, an active ingredient in biocidal products and for disinfection. Face protection and protective clothing are required when using.
- For long treatments, you can additionally use Logi-Bloc or Mouth-Prop , inserted between the teeth of the upper and lower jaws, which increases the feeling of patient comfort.
- The package contains 4 pieces of OBF.
