Ribbond is a binding reinforcement tape that is perfect for a wide variety of dentistry applications. The unique combination of the properties of a patented weave and easy-to-bond, high-strength fibers provides much greater resistance to breaking and cracking than any other reinforcement material.
Chemical Bonding Capacity:
Verification of the nature of the bonds that Ribbond forms with methyl methacrylate and BisGMA resins has been reported in specialist journals such as the Journal of Materials Science and Plasmas and Polymers. The single fiber pull tests show the adhesion between the resins
and the plasma treated Ribbond fibers. Electron spectroscopy for chemical composition studies (ESCA) and the measurement of stress distribution in a humid environment show the chemical changes occurring in the Ribbond belt under the influence of oxygen plasma.
The patented weave of the tape with cross-tied closed stitching (specific to plain weave filter fabrics) creates a network of interwoven fibers that is resistant to breakage due to its multi-directional force transfer capability. The fabric has no shape memory, will not crumble, untangle or bounce
when cut or shaped. Extraordinary strength of the fibers The Ribbond belt consists of the same high-strength fibers made of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene as those used in the manufacture of bulletproof vests. These fibers are so durable that
special scissors are required to cut them.
