Spongostan is a local haemostatic agent intended for surgical procedures involving venous bleeding or oozing, when traditional haemostasis methods are difficult or impractical, and non-absorbable materials are inadvisable.
Spongostan sticks to the bleeding site and absorbs 45 times its weight of fluid. Thanks to its homogeneous porosity, Spongostan captures platelets, which activates the coagulation cascade, turning soluble fibrinogen into a mesh of insoluble fibrin, which stops bleeding.
Spongostan is absorbed 3-5 weeks after wearing.
Form of the drug: dental sponge 10 x 10 x 10 mm.
Active ingredient content – gelatin sponge.
How it works: when it comes into direct contact with the wound, the sponge activates the platelets and the clotting process begins. Spongostan absorbs fluid and blood particles in quantities exceeding its own weight many times over, thus oppressing the mechanically bleeding vessels.
Application: all kinds of surgical procedures accompanied by vascular bleeding. The sponge is absorbed by the tissues and does not need to be removed.
Available packaging: 24 pcs.
